32-bit vs. 64-bit Plugins on Windows
Nuro Audio plugins are native 64-bit plugins. We also provide Windows 32-bit versions for added compatibility with some legacy systems.
π If you're using a 64-bit system (almost every modern computer is) - it is very important that you use the 64-bit version of the plugins.
π¨Common Problems
If you use the 32-bit version of the plugins on a 64-bit system, you may experience...
- Error messages such as "No Internet Connection" showing on the plugin, even when you are connected to the internet
- Plugins repeatedly asking for Activation Key / the plugin not staying activated correctly
- The plugin remaining in demo mode / inserting silence
- General bugs / glitches / DAW incompatibility
These issues are very common in some DAWs. They are known to occur in FL Studio and REAPER, but they can happen in any DAW when using the incorrect version of the plugin.
β Follow the steps below to fix it.
Removing the 32-bit Versions
Follow these steps to remove the 32-bit version of the plugins from your system:
- Close your DAW and any other audio-related applications
- Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\VST3
- Delete all Nuro Audio plugin files (Xvox.vst3, Flexion.vst3, Xpitch.vst3, etc.)
This will remove the 32-bit plugin files from your system.
β οΈ Plugin Not Found Errors
Note that once you remove these plugin files - if you had previously saved a session using the 32-bit plugin version, your DAW might say "Plugin Not Found" or similar. This is because you just removed the version of the plugin that was saved with that session. The 64-bit version is still installed, you'll just need to replace it in that session with the correct 64-bit version.
π Next Step: Rescan Your Plugins
It's a good idea to rescan your plugins in your DAW's plugin manager after making changes like this. Below are instructions for FL Studio and REAPER. If you need instructions for how to rescan plugins in your DAW, send us an email to support@nuroaudio.com and we'll be happy to assist.
Rescanning Plugins in FL Studio
- Open FL Studio
- Go to Options > Manage Plugins
- In the bottom left corner of the window, make sure that all of the following options are turned on:
- "Rescan previously verified plugins"
- "Combine VST and VST3 Versions of a Plugin"
- "Combine 32 and 64 bit versions of a plugin"
- Hit the "Find Installed Plugins" button to rescan your plugins. This may take a few minutes depending on how many plugins you have installed on your system.
Rescanning Plugins in REAPER
- Open REAPER
- Go to Options > Preferences
- Open Plug-ins > VST
- Click "Clear cache/re-scan". This may take a few minutes depending on how many plugins you have installed on your system.
How to Skip Installation of the 32-bit Versions
When installing Nuro Audio plug-ins on Windows systems, you can choose to not install the 32-bit versions. Follow the steps of the installer, and when prompted to select which formats and versions to install - uncheck the 32-bit option. Note that this will not uninstall a previously installed 32-bit version - so you'll need to actually follow the steps above to remove the 32-bit version once you've installed it once.
